Animal Rights Activism Made Easy

Even though we’re seeing the number of vegans increase year to year, the progression of animal rights activism seems to be at a standstill. People aren’t born vegan. They’re made vegan by the influence of animal rights activism of all kinds.

If we want to see a vegan world in our lifetimes, we have to do more than just make vegans — we have to make vegan activists.

ActiveVegans was created based on the belief that increasing participation in the animal rights movement will require easy, convenient, and accessible animal rights activism. ActiveVegans does this by simplifying and streamlining animal rights activism:

ActiveVegans provides one centralized platform for all animal rights activism events in the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Maryland (with hopes to expand in the future). No need to join, follow, and check 20 different groups to keep up with events anymore.

  1. Hate facebook? So do we. Active Vegans pulls events off of Facebook and onto a website so that people without facebook accounts can find event information too.
  2. Still feeling facebook? No problem. Our facebook group ActiveVegans DMV lists all of the animal rights actions in one place too.
  3. Looking for more? ActiveVegans is constantly adding resources for animal rights activists and improving access to information about events. Check out our most recent work here.

About the Organizers

Tiffany Wilt

Tiffany went vegan in June of 2017 while living in Bogota, Colombia. Initially finding it difficult to find events and break into the grassroots animal rights scene, Tiffany finally attended her first animal rights action more than two years later. She quickly realized the need for an easily accessible animal rights activism hub and, in the fall of 2019, Tiffany thought up the first iteration of ActiveVegans (with the help of some amazing friends — shout out to Sara Wilder!).

In addition to ActiveVegans, Tiffany organizes Anonymous for the Voiceless cubes of truth, independent outreach events, and single-issue protests in Silver Spring, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Chris Bednar

Chris went vegan in December of 2017. After becoming active in April of 2018, he immediately gravitated toward outreach conversations and public debates. However, as a passionate software developer, Chris dreamed of applying his technical skills to the animal rights movement too. When he was introduced to ActiveVegans, he knew that it would be a great way to challenge his skills while working towards his goal of animal liberation.

In addition to being the technological wizard behind ActiveVegans, Chris also makes fitness and personal development videos on Youtube.
